This project focuses on developing a card-based educational tool that helps young children aged 5–7 learn to recognize and understand emotions through simplified and exaggerated character expressions. Building on research that demonstrates the effectiveness of visual storytelling and interactive media for emotional education, this project integrates illustrated cards featuring distinct settings, actions, and expressions. The goal is to create an engaging, context-rich learning experience that supports children’s emotional development in relatable scenarios.

Personal / Individual Work, Sep-Dec 2023.
Used Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate.

The setting and activity cards are designed to help children learn emotions by connecting them to familiar environments and relatable actions, fostering contextual understanding and emotional recognition. This layered approach adapts to developmental stages: five-year-olds focus on basic emotion recognition with expression cards, six-year-olds pair emotions with actions to understand cause-and-effect, and seven-year-olds integrate settings, activities, and emotions to explore complex social interactions. The cards guide children from foundational emotional awareness to nuanced social understanding, making them an effective and versatile tool for emotional and social development.
